The 3rds had a local derby with Comber young
men and despite rumours and intrigue came away
with well deserved 3-1 victory! The 3rds went
in front after David Bailey delivered a peach
of a cross onto the head of Ryan Haire who gave
the keeper no chance. Big" Rhino"
could have had a hat trick of headers in the
first half, he hit the bar with one and just
missed with the other. Some were calling for
a specsavers nomination, but veteran striker
Stevie Hanna thought that this was a bit harsh
as he has missed them from closer! In the 2nd
half Ryan turned from hero to zero when he lost
the ball just outside his own box and from the
resulting cross CYM levelled although the Rec
had a case for off-side.The Rec finally got
their act together and went in front when Andy
Bowden beat the off-side trap and coolly slotted
home. Adam Whiteside made it 3 near the end
but the match was not yet over, Nicky Cowdy
pulled of a great save in the the dying moments.
This was a good gritty performance by the boys
who could have been in an embarrassing situation
had they not won, through no fault of their
own!
