The 3rds were at home on sat to
Brentwood in a league match and although
they did not play well the boys came away with
a 4-2 victory. Brentwood took an early lead
when Ryan Oliver's pass was intercepted and
from the counter attackthey scored.Oliver made
ammends 5 mins later when he
closed down a back pass and drilled home from
18 yds.
In the second half Roger Cross
put the rec 2-1 up, but poor defending from
a
corner saw B'wood level.
Gary Bennett put himself in contention for the
"Specsavers" award when he
fluffed a great chance from 10 yds. after great
work from Stevie Hanna [yes
he was playing] but this was surpassed by Roger
Cross who missed an open
goal from 6yds. Danny Gabbey made it 3-2 with
a majestic run down the left
wing, waltzing round the defence and slotting
home and Gary Bennett made up
for his earlier miss when he latched on to a
Colin Millar cross. All in all
you're not a bad team if you play bad and win.
