“Well Done!” After drawing a game that we significantly dominated, after dropping two points in our attempt to stay in the Premier League race, after a result that would see us lose top spot it was difficult to be upbeat and positive but I felt that it was the least I could say to a croup of players who have been a credit to Comber Rec Football Club.
As we come to our final game against Newington I have noting but praise for a bunch of guys, on and off the pitch, who have been an absolute pleasure to work with and to be associated with this season which now draws near to a close.
We do work in the Amateur League but the players, officials and coaches put in as much effort and commitment as those in the paid ranks and by that I mean the Irish League.
If you are reading this as a Comber Rec devotee thanks for your continued support. Hopefully, your loyalty will be rewarded soon, as in next season with success in the form of a trophy or league title, or both!
Congratulations to Peter Kelly for winning the One Stop Mortgage Shop Player of the Month for March. PK has had a tremendous season but here’s the good news, he wants to do better next season!
Anyway, here’s looking forward to the 3rd of May and our final game against Newington. There is a cliché used by the media at this time of the year which refers to the games as “a meaningless, end of the season fixture” I can assure you that will not be our philosophy that day!
