Under 15's Match Report

East Antrim Youth League
Whitehead 1 - 8
Comber Rec
Whitehead
23rd February 2008

Comber had a straight forward win away to Whitehead. Stuart Hanna fired Comber into the lead on six minutes; Ryan Irwin increased the lead with a long range effort on twelve minutes. Soon after Justin Childs scored the pick of the goals when he turned and shot from 25 yards. Alex Malcolm-Bourne scored from a tight angle to make the half-time score 4-0.The only other notable incident of the first half was the match being stopped by the referee when a member of the transport-catering staff required immediate access to the ladies!

Comber introduced all five substitutes for the second-half, Andrew Montgomery, Stuart Leitch, Jason Rutherford, Matthew Crooks and Andy Bell all given a chance to impress.
The lead was increased to five when Childs headed in from a Conor Pinnons corner. Irwin then scored twice more to complete an impressive hat-trick, his third a splendid long range shot. Malcolm-Bourne wrapped up the Comber scoring, being sent clear by an Irwin through ball, and easily beating the keeper. Whitehead denied the Rec defence a clean sheet when they scored late in the game.

The final score of 8-1 is a sure sign of the strength in depth that now exists within the squad. In addition to the goal scorers, good performances were displayed by Andrew Gibson, Adam Beattie, Conor Pinnons and Andy Bell.
