Under 13s Match Report The plate match against Ballyclare finally got under way after a late change of pitch. Comber started strong and were creating chances early on. But it was Ballyclare who took the lead midway through the first half, Ballyclare got a throw in on the half way line which was thrown to an unmarked player who made a through pass to Ballyclares striker who found the net from long range with a lofted shot over the head of Thomas Beattie. Following the goal Comber were again getting the ball down and setting up chances, Elliot Wilson got through on goal but a bad bounce led to his shot being hit wide of the goal. Just before the half time whistle Comber really should have equalised Combers build up was great through Harvey Whiteside and Adam Childs and a low pass accross the Ballyclare penalty area fell to Sam Manley but his first time shot flew high and wide. Half Time 1 - 0 Ballyclare Comber again started the half on top and their defence was proving tough to break down with Karl Johnson doing extremely well to man mark Ballyclares tall striker and both full backs Jacob and Bradley were getting forward frequently to set up an attack. Comber again created plenty of goal scoring opportunities throughout the half but were getting frustrated at their failure to find the net. With 5 minutes left to play Comber finally got a goal back, Adam Childs won the ball in the centre of midfield and lofted the ball over the Ballyclares defence, Elliot Wilson won the race to the ball and scored to make it 1 - 1. But straight from the resulting Ballyclare kick off they scored and went 2-1 up. The ball was played out to the right winger and Comber failed to stop his run, he crossed the ball high into the Comber box and the striker finished with a header through the legs of Beattie. Comber did go in search for another goal but it was too late and Ballyclares defence dealt with any threat. This was a disapointing result for Comber as they played very well throughout the game in all areas of the pitch and each player showed a great attitude during the match. Just a lack of finishing which let Comber down on the day. Man of the Match was left back Bradley Porter.
