Comber 6 : 0 Templepatrick
League
Coach Road
Saturday 19th January 2008
A last minute switch saw this game moved from
the waterlogged Council pitch to Coach Road
which was in perfect order despite the horrendous
weather earlier in the week.
Comber playing their first competitive match
for a number of weeks started quickly and went
one up after only two minutes when Clifford,
having been put through, kept his cool and took
the ball wide before finishing expertly low
to the left of the keeper. On 18 minutes it
was two, when Magee who was having a fine game
at left wing back made it two. Ten minutes later
Clifford followed in a fierce shot making it
three before Wilson completed the first half
scoring with a headed goal.
Comber added to the scoring immediately after
half time when man of the match Magee added
his second of the game. After this Comber played
in second gear for most of the half and were
lucky to escape punishment on a couple of occasions
when Hackett in the Comber goal came to their
rescue. With 10 minutes left McClure added to
the tally with his first and Comber’s
sixth goal of the game.
