After last weeks disappointing result, Comer started the game very determined to make amends and go away with all three points. In windy conditions numerous attacks were stopped by the Larne defence, and it seemed only a matter of time before Comber scored. However Larne quickly broke out of defence down the right, and into the Comber box in a slick move and scored past Manley with a great shot. This was totally against the run of play. Again Comber had a couple of chances to equalise when Whiteside, and then Wilson both missed good opportunities.
Then from a rare Larne corner, the Colts winger hit a cross which fortunately ended up a shot, hit off the back post and into the Comber net. Unbelievably the Comber boys found themselves 2 - 0 down, from just two Larne attacks. The Comber heads however did not drop as they knew themselves they were the better team. Wilson eventually made amends when what seemed like a weak shot was misjudged by the Larne keeper and slipped under him into the net to make it 2 - 1 at half time.
Early in the second half Wilson had a one on one with the Larne keeper and confidentally slotted the ball into the net. At last normal order was restored. The Comber defence held firm against occasional larne attacks, with Elder playing particulary well. Manley also proved very effective in goal for Comber, making a very brave save to keep the score level.
Childs and Whiteside were very strong in midfield, as was Mllar who slipped a lovely ball through to Wilson to complete his hat-trick. Almost immediately Wilson did it again tapping a ball pass just inside the post to make it 4 - 2. Quinn and Buchanan both had decent shots to increase Combers' lead, but it was sub Davidson who made it 5 - 2, when his cool finish left the Larne keeper no chance.
A great effort by Comber, battling back after an early two goal deficit, and going on to easily win the game. Better finishing will come with practice, as the team cannot always rely on Wilson for scoring. The team is working hard, and getting stronger each week, with every player battling to hold his place in the team.
With the same effort as this week, Comber will earn the points and climb the league.
