East Antrim Youth League
Ballyclare Colts 0 Comber 2
Greenisland
Saturday 27th October 2007
Comber started the game knowing a win would
maintain their position in top half of the table.
Although Ballyclare had lost their six games
up to now it was not going to be one way traffic
at all. Comber played confidently early on,
with Walker and Whiteside making full use of
what seemed a very large pitch.
The Comber defence held firm on the occasions
when Ballyclare attached, with Burgess playing
particularly well. Comber got the breakthrough
when Manley scored with a great shot from inside
the box. It was nothing more than Comber deserved,
as they had been passing the ball well with
accurate passing moves involving Millar and
Childs.
In the second half Comber pushed hard for the
second goal which would settle who was going
away with the points. Walker was getting a lot
of joy on the left wing, and when one of his
runs took him into the box, he scored from a
difficult angle sending the ball high into the
net with a great shot. Ballyclare kept plugging
away but Comber held on for a fairly comfortable
win. A solid display by Comber, who will face
harder challenges in the coming weeks.
