After a bye in the last round Comber found themselves in a tough quarterfinal tie against league leaders Ridgeway Rovers. Comber held their shape and played well in the first half, but Ridgeway were fairly comfortable and at half time held a two goal lead. In fact without the saves from Manley the score would have been much worse.
The Comber boys heads perhaps dropped in the second half and with Comber chasing the game, their opponents took full advantage passing and moving really well, and were certainly the better footballing team. Five goals were scored in the second half. Buchanan in particular, played well in his new midfield role and fully deserved his MOM award.
