Comber Rec
9: 0 Ballysillan
Coach Road
Saturday 22nd September 2007
After suffering a heavy defeat at the hands
of Ridgeway two weeks ago, it was important
Comber regained a bit of confidence during this,
their first home game.
Comber started brightly and took the lead with
an early penalty from Millar, from then Comber
took control and further penalties from Walker
and Black meant there was only going to be one
winner. Although Ballysillan battled hard, Whiteside
scored his first just before the break leaving
the score at 4 - 0.
The second half was much the same as the first
with Comber controling the game and eventually
scoring through Childs and Whiteside, who worked
hard throughout the game. The same players added
two more shortly afterwards, which meant Whiteside
completed his hat trick. Comber were then able
to start to make substitutions, and eventually
during the second half all five subs were brought
on to replace tired legs.
Childs was clearly wanting a hat trick of his
own and perhaps should have been awarded another
penalty but the referree who had a faultless
game played on, ignoring his appeals!!
From a corner Comber scored their last goal
of the game when Burgess struck a fierce half-volley,
giving the keeper no chance.
All in all a good performance by Comber, and
most importantly three well deserved points.
