After last weeks disappointing performance in front of goal Comber hoped to make amends against a side just 3 points above them in the league. With a strong wind blowing at times, both teams cancelled each other out early on.
Larne made the breakthrough when Comber failed to defend a cross properly, and the ball dropped nicely for the forward to blast home from close range for a very soft goal. Comber then took over with both the defence and midfield playing great football. A great chance fell to Childs who hurried his shot, and then shot over the bar. Black then hit a great free kick into the box, but Manley, Wilson and Childs failed to connect. Further chances fell to Comber but no joy once again in front of goal.
Changes were made at half-time to the team structure. Larne had a few half chances but Anderson did well to deny them. A super corner from Whiteside was volleyed over the bar by Manley, and Comber had a great shout for a penalty but the ref didn't agree. Walker on the left did well, hitting in decent crosses but Combers' shooting boots were definately not on. The game was becoming increasingly frustrating, when just at the end, Comber were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Up stepped Black to hit a shot which was just too strong for the Larne keeper. The game ended 1 - 1.
Again Comber failed to convert most of their chances in a game they could easily have won. The team tried very hard with Marshall and Childs playing particulary well, and Millar making strong midfield runs.
