With a changed formation, playing
just three at the back, Comber started
the game hoping for a repeat performance
of the last time the teams met.
Comber started well trying to make
use of the large amounts of space
on the right wing. Millar, Childs
and Whiteside combined passes well
and came close a number of times.
Wilson and Manley then had great chances
to score but the Carnmoney keeper
made a briliant save to deny a certain
goal. From a Comber cross from the
right a Carmoney defender was judged
to handle the ball, and a penalty
was awarded. Black stepped up (quickly)
and scored confidently putting Comber
one up at halftime.
In the second half Carnmoney came
more into the game and had a couple
of slight chances to score but Anderson
did well to deny them. Again Comber
had more chances to extend their lead,
but failed and were made to pay when
Carnmoney equalised after a mix -
up in the Comber defence. The game
ended a draw, a disappointing result
of Comber after numerous chances created.
Better finishing is certainly needed
lads!
Millar was awarded man of the match
after a strong and energetic game
but special mention must go to young
Hamilton on his debut at right back,
in the second half.
