On a bitterly cold day, Comber started the game with a few regular players absent, and a slightly reorganised defence. Due to Manley having other commitments, Anderson was back in goal, with Milligan and McCullough starting at the back and Burgess moving into midfield. Wearing their new kit Comber started fairly well with Wilson looking lively upfront and Walker going close to scoring. Comber definitely found themselves in a match and fell behind to a well taken Carnmoney goal. Soon after Wilson equalised, continuing his recent great scoring form, Carnmoney then scored their second when Anderson failed to hold on to a shot and the striker easily knocked the ball into the net. Unbelievably bad became worse as a Carnmoney player was allowed to run into the box unchallenged and scored to make it  3-1. Certainly a few Comber players were finding the cold conditions uncomfortable.

 

Changes to the formation were made and the halftime team talk seemed to do the trick as Comber now played with more urgency and belief. A Walker scuffed shot somehow trundled over the line to reduce the deficit. They all count!! The game was changing in Combers' favour with the home defence more solid and the midfield quartet working well. Wilson then put away another chance sending the ball high into the net to make the score level. Carnmoney had their chances but Anderson did well to block and save their efforts. With a few minutes to go Comber were awarded a freekick just outside the Carnmoney box. Black, who had a strong game then stepped forward and hit a great shot over the wall and into the net giving the Carnmoney goalie no chance.

 

Comber gave themselves what seemed like too much to do early on but worked hard and gradually fought back to win the game. A huge amount of credit must go the Comber boys who earned their third win in succession. No doubt Carnmoney will be looking to reverse the result in next weeks game when the two teams meet again.
