After conceding a late equaliser the last time the teams met, Comber were focused his time on winning the game, with no slip - ups. However the game was by no means going to be easy. Comber started the game confidently forcing early pressure on the Chimney defence. Aided by the wind in the first half Comber earned a series of corners and eventually the opening goal came when Wilson scored after the opposing goalkeeper failed to hold a shot from Millar. Further chances fell to Quinn and Whiteside but their efforts went wide or were well saved. The Comber midfield were dominant and worked away tirelessly. Childs who was in the thick of it then ran into the box and scored Combers' second just before the break. Chimney had a few attacks but the Comber defence held firm with Milligan playing particularly well.

 

Chimney started the second half strongly looking to reduce the deficit, Manley was forced into making a number of brave saves from the Chimney attacks. However they got their first when the Chimney striker hit a strong shot which flew high into the net, this gave the Chimney boys now something to play for. Maybe against the run of play Comber scored their third when sub Buchanan tapped the ball over the line after a shot from Whiteside was only parried by the keeper. This goal by Lucky Luke was to prove important as Chimney pushed players forward looking to make the most of Combers tired legs. They got their second when Comber failed to defend a corner properly and the ball was knocked past Manley. Comber held on the remaining five minutes to secure another hard fought win.

 

With a few players missing the team was adjusted slightly in defence and credit must go the whole team, subs included, who wanted the three points and got them. Millar in midfield and Milligan in defence in particular were excellent.
