The season began with a tough away match at
Billy Neill, against Ridgeway Rovers.
Although without two of our strongest players
who had early season commitments Comber started
the game very positively. We soon fell behind
when the Rovers speedy left winger caused problems,
getting behind our defense before crossing to
his centre forward who scored. Two more goals
followed before a spectulative shot from Combers
Millar deceived the Rovers goalkeeper who spilled
the ball into the net.
Ridgeway played some great football, and scored
a further three goals before half-time. Comber
heads perhaps dropped, and even with three substitutions
the rout continued in the second half with Ridgeway
scoring a further five goals without reply.
All in all, a disappointing scoreline for Comber,
but plenty of hope for the rest of the season.
